First aid kit for sports: Well supplied in case of emergency

Danish national player Christian Eriksen collapsed on camera during a soccer match: cardiac arrest. Since then, AEDs or lay defibrillators have been on everyone's lips again. But it doesn't have to be cardiac arrest. In sports, there are always emergencies that require quick action. Then it's good to have your sports first aid kit on hand.

In a nutshell: What you can expect in this article

Gerald Asamoah made the problem known in German soccer: A heart defect is no reason to give up sports. The former professional player advocates always having a lay defibrillator, known as an AED, on hand at sporting events, in clubs and during training. Benz Sport expressly supports this.

What should be in the first aid kit for sports?

Everything you need in an emergency belongs in the case. The basic equipment is almost identical to the first aid kit in the car. For quick help with bruises, strains or torn ligaments, cooling compresses and ice spray are a good idea. Boxer tape and/or kinesiotape are now also part of the standard equipment.

Who orders first aid kits for sports from Benz Sport?

First aid cases for sports are put together in such a way that especially schools, clubs and public institutions are well equipped. Here, first aid cases are even mandatory. The defibrillator is not mandatory yet, although this is demanded again and again from the medical side as well as from the side of the sportsmen and sportswomen. Do you want to stock up your private first aid equipment for the next cycling trip, climbing vacation or alpine trekking, you will find everything you need at Benz Sport.

Sport first aid kit - dressing material, and what else?

What belongs in a first aid case? The filling of the ready-made cases, sets and backpacks at Benz Sport complies with DIN 13157. Included are hemostatic agents and plasters, gloves and a rescue blanket as well as bandages and a triangular cloth. In addition, there are respiratory masks, cold packs, scissors and tweezers. To make sure you know what to do, we include first aid instructions. Eye compresses and plastic bags make the set complete.

Of course, you can add equipment to your first aid kit yourself as needed. It often makes sense to have a few more cold compresses on hand or perhaps include an ice spray.

Children injure themselves differently than adults

When children are injured in sports, it is rarely a matter of broken bones or other serious injuries. Quite often, on the other hand, it's nasty-looking hematomas, abrasions, and badly bleeding, banged-up knees. These injuries look alarming, and often they bleed profusely. However, they are not really dangerous. In the first aid kit for sports in children's groups, child-friendly dressing materials in larger quantities as well as cooling compresses are enormously important. And that is how the sets and cases for school sports lessons are put together. The contents are selected according to DIN 13157, but in smaller dimensions.

Fast, comprehensive, competent advice: Order first aid material online

You can get a few plasters and disposable gloves at any drugstore. But is that really purposeful when your first aid kit for sports has exceeded its expiration date? Actually, you attach importance to the fact that the dressing materials turn out according to the regulations and are sterilely packed. Benz Sport carries sets and refill packs that comply with DIN 13157 or DIN 13169. Our more than 170 competent employees know the materials in our assortment and will advise you. Don't be afraid to ask us questions! Experience has shown that there is a lot of need for explanation, especially about the defibrillators in our range.

So that you are not left without your emergency equipment, we will deliver your order quickly and without complications. Larger goods such as cabinets, sports equipment and the like we drive with our own trucks directly to you. If you order from us anyway, simply add the first aid kit for sports. Then everything will arrive together.

FAQ - frequently asked questions

What to do in case of a sports accident?

The first rule for sports injuries is to cool down! Therefore, cooling compresses and ice spray should not be missing in the first aid kit for sports. The cold causes the blood vessels to contract. This does not stop bleeding completely, but there are fewer secondary reactions (hematomas do not form or are smaller). In addition, the cold stimulus keeps the nerves busy. As long as "Cold!" is radioed to the brain from the injured area, the signal "Pain!" does not really get through. So cold has an indirect analgesic effect. In addition, the following applies: take a break immediately and do not continue training.

Which sports are particularly prone to injury?

It may surprise you, but the so-called high-risk sports actually generate fewer injuries than traditional sports. Among men, 57 percent of accidents occur in soccer, with handball coming in second at 14 percent. Then come volleyball, basketball, gymnastics and judo. The statistics for women look somewhat different, with handball leading the way with 21 percent, followed by volleyball (11 percent) and gymnastics (10.7 percent). Only then come gymnastics and soccer with just over 9 percent. Horseback riding, basketball and other ball games also account for injuries.

When do sports facilities have to have an AED?

For several years, Berlin has required newly built sports facilities to be equipped with a defibrillator. Otherwise, there is no defibrillator obligation in Germany. Other European countries have gone further and require the easy-to-use life-saver.
